Gaucher disease is a rare genetic disease also known as a Lysosomal Storage Disorder. It can cause osteoporosis, bone deterioration and spontaneous fractures, excessive bruising and bleeding, anemia, fatigue and a distended stomach due to an enlarged liver and/or spleen. Gaucher disease has a devastating effect and is sometimes fatal. To date, there is no cure. The National Gaucher Foundation (NGF) has funded millions of dollars to support and promote research towards the cause, treatments and a cure for Gaucher disease. To meet the ever-increasing needs of individuals with Gaucher disease and their families, the NGF supports financial, educational, legislative and outreach programs vital to the Gaucher community. |

Adopt-A-Native Elder (ANE) strives to build strong relationships between Volunteers and impoverished Navajo Elders (age 75-106) who live in remote areas of reservation and need assistance to have enough food, firewood, and health supplies to continue to live in their homes as they age. ANE also helps Elder weavers support themselves by providing quality wool and selling their rugs on-line and at Rug Shows, returning all of the money to the weavers. |
